Tina Turner
Tina Turner, born in November 26th in 1939, was an American-born Swiss singer, songwriter and actress.
Known as the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll", she rose to prominence as the lead singer of the husband-wife duo Ike & Tina Turner before launching a successful career as a solo performer. She was recognized for her "swagger, sensuality, powerful gravelly vocals and unstoppable energy". Tina Turner began performing with musician Ike Turner in the 1950s.
They became known as the Ike and Tina Turner Revue, achieving popular acclaim for their live performances and recordings like the top 5 hit “Proud Mary”. Since the start of the 70s, she started following a slow start to her solo career, Turner achieved massive success with her 1984 album Private Dancer. She went on to deliver more chart-topping albums and hit singles and was twice elected into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
The revered singer with eight Grammys to her name later became involved in the spiritual Beyond project. Turner died May 24, 2023, at age 83.
Her Style
The only thing more legendary than the late Tina Turner's energetic performances were her mesmerising on-stage costumes. Tina used to showcase her legs in ultra-mini skirts decorated with fringe and sparkles that dazzled her audiences. But, according to Turner, she wore them for movement, not aesthetics. She was famous for wearing gorgeous, astonishing, sparkling, tiny, above the knees, coloured, plain, leather, sleeveles dresses with super shinnig complements, such as big, golden, metal earrings. She was a clear icon and had a huge influence inside womens fashion world.
One of her most iconic outfits
Here we have a picture of the fabulous Tina Turner wearing an iconic outfit during one of her performances. She’s wearing a gorgeous, super tight, over knee-length, black, plain, leather, sleeveless dress which has several metallic details such as a silver zip all across the dress and some chains and buckles all over. She’s also wearing a unique, quite loose, waist-length, light blue, plain, denim jacket with two pockets on the front, five metal buttons, its fists rolled up and three medals hanging up on its left chest pocket.
We can also observe that she’s wearing trendy, black, checked, lace tights; a pair of beautiful, big, red and golden, plain, metal earrings and a fashionable silver bracelet on her left wrist.
My favourite song
My favourite song by Tina Turner it’s “The Best”. This song has a very special place inside my heart because it was the theme that I performed in the most important competiton of my life. The strength and the intense feeling of love that its lyrics transmit, made it very easy to conect with it and to express yourself.
Its lines are a true declaration of love and it’s very easy to feel the need of experiencing the kind of feeling that she describes, specially in the comeback:
